Assistance with your BusinessObjects reports

General Assistance

When you contact User Support about your report, the User Support Officer will ‘shadow’ your BusinessObjects session. This means that both of you can view the report on your computer and both can operate your keyboard and mouse. In most cases it should be possible to resolve your query while you are on the phone. This system enables users to see the solution applied to their report on their own computer.

Please be aware that while MIS staff will always try to assist where possible, the User Support area does not have the resources to produce ad hoc reports for all staff who require them. They will therefore focus on helping you to self-manage your data requirements by showing you how to produce and maintain your own reports. Standard and complex reports are exceptions to this.

Standard Reports

Where a common reporting need has been identified MIS will produce a standard report. These reports will generally be placed on the Reportal. Examples of standard reports requested by users are ‘EFTSLs by Funding Type’ which are produced for each faculty. If you have an idea for a standard report please contact User Support on 52595 or email mis-helpdesk@uq.edu.au .

Complex Reports

User Support is often contacted by staff who wish to use BusinessObjects to streamline their work processes. In some cases, this requires the development of a more complex report or series of reports. Where this is the case User Support will work closely with you to develop an appropriate reporting solution.

On-line Help

In addition to FAQs and user guides available on the Resource Centre , User Support has developed a number of downloadable documents, including Best Practice Guides , to assist users in developing and maintaining their reports.
