Once you have created a Business Objects query, you can apply it to another universe. This can be done only if the other universe contains the same data objects that are included in the query e.g. ID, Program Code etc. To apply a query to a different universe, take the following steps;

1. Click on Data at the top of the window and select View Data. This will open the Data Manager window.

   

2. Click on the Definition tab at the top of the Data Manager window.

   

3. In the section marked General, click on the button next to the Universe field. A list of available universes will now be displayed.

   

4. Select a new universe from the list and click on OK.
5. The universe field should now contain the new universe that you selected. Click on OK to continue.
6. You will now have to Refresh your report to apply the changes that you have made. Click on Data at the top of the window and select Refresh. Your report will now contain data from the new universe that you selected earlier. 

Note: If you get a message to say that the query cannot be applied because a data object is missing from the new universe click on the Details button to find out which object it is and delete this object  from your query (first save it to another name if you want to retain your original query for later use). Rerun your query on the new universe and add in any new objects you require.
