MIS User Prize 2009

The MIS User Prize 2009 is awarded for the most useful and effective entry utilising the UQ Data Warehouse to improve work practices. A panel will meet to determine the winners. Consideration will be given to those entries proven to have improved efficiency, accuracy, and/or the integration of tasks. A variety of criteria will be considered in determining the winner and any runner-up prizes. The prizes can be awarded to individuals and/ or groups. If a prize is won by a group, all of those named on the entry form will receive an equal share of the prize.

The Criteria:

Does the entry show how the report(s) helped the entrant(s) and/or others to work more effectively and/or to solve a business issue? This could include saving time/money or perhaps providing essential information that was not previously possible. A case must be outlined to explain the issues and how they were resolved.
Does the entry involve a data warehouse reporting solution? The report(s) may use a variety of features (e.g. linking, breaks, graphs and charts). It is not essential for the reports to be complex or highly formatted.
Do the reports present clear, concise and meaningful data?
Were best practice standards used? The entrant will need to demonstrate how best practice standards were used.
Was the solution developed in consultation with staff and stakeholders? The entrant needs to describe the consultation process (only if this was required).
How was the solution deployed? The case must explain the deployment of the solution, that is – how all essential staff were trained to use the report(s) AND where the report(s) are currently made available.

Will these reports require work/maintenance in future? Reports need to be as dynamic as possible and involve minimal maintenance.
